The Steller's Jay is a forest dweller and is found in the western parts of the United States. This one was in the Redwoods and was banded to help keep track of movements and life history.
The oldest recorded Steller’s Jay was a male, and at least 16 years 1 month old when he was found in Alaska in 1987. He had been banded in the same state in 1972.
