Squirrel with mushroom
Puffball mushrooms are a common fungus that once dry, contain a dark powdery substance that is actually trillions of mushroom spores. A trail of "smoke" was created when this Eastern Gray Squirrel began devouring one of these near my home. The squirrel diet typically consists of nuts, fruit, seeds, flowers, insects - and yes - mushrooms!
