Cottonball Basin

Death Valley is a vast and amazing park with features unique to this climate and region. Salt flats are prominent in the valley and are created by a combination of water draining into a large basin that does not have an outflow to drain the salts, combined with the arid environment that Death Valley is known for. On this visit, rain had come through and settled into flats and had not yet evaporated. The result was these interesting patterns that reflected a lovely sunset.
