Bald Eagles matingBald Eagles mating

This may look like a violent encounter but it is a pair of mating Bald Eagles that I have been fortunate to view on a few occasions recently. Bald Eagles mate for life but this male is this female's second mate since her original partner died, along with their eaglets when a storm took down the tree where their nest was located. We have had a couple nasty wind storms recently and I'm amazed to see their current nest is still in good shape. Fingers crossed that all goes well this year and I'm able to post some eaglet photos when they hatch. I'm rooting for these two!!

Nature is cruel. I'm bummed for the eaglets. Amazing shot Heather!

Your commentary was much appreciated, and giving the background on Eagles, how you captured the photo, and what you know about the subjects really provide additional depth to an already amazing shot.
