Out for an afternoon stroll
I spotted this guy out for an afternoon stroll while looking for bobcats in Southern California. He was most likely out looking for a mate. Male tarantulas live the majority of the life in their burrows, coming out around the age of 7 to mate, then they die shortly afterwards. The female often consumes the male and continues to live for around 20 or more years.
I ended up seeing 4 of these in one day, all crossing the road. Living dangerously at the end of their life!

I did not expect that hairy guy when I clicked the link, I pictured some dreamy foggy ethereal picture in a field or on the river. Whoa, hello!
